*Foster care can be devastating to a child, but it is often a child’s only chance, only lifeline. While Ripple Effects does not intend to trivialize the foster care experience or its effects on children, we do not believe there is any benefit in portraying foster care as negative or hopeless. Based on initial responses, ICAN and ICAN Associates is hopeful that the optimistic perspective of Ripple Effects may offer some encouragement to the children, foster parents, parents and social workers who deal with the realities of the child welfare system everyday.
